During the visit and working session with Muhammad Sher Mahbub Murad, Chairman of the Sylhet City Administration, the two sides shared similarities in the history of their nations’ liberation struggles, while affirming that the fine traditional friendship carefully nurtured by generations of leaders of the two countries still holds great potential to “bear fruit” and develop to a new height for the common benefit of the peoples of both nations.

In the coming time, the two sides may coordinate on cultural exchange activities, tourism promotion, and business connections between the two countries… thereby helping to strengthen mutual understanding and bring the peoples of the two countries closer together.

The Chairman of the Sylhet City Administration said that Sylhet is currently one of the fastest-growing cities in the country, with strengths in tourism, agricultural production, and natural gas extraction. However, due to the impacts of climate change and environmental pollution, the city is currently facing extreme weather phenomena (floods, heat waves, fog, etc.).

The Sylhet City Administration is actively studying international experience, especially Vietnam’s experience, in responding to and mitigating the negative impacts of climate change.

In addition, the Bangladeshi side hopes Vietnam will share its experience in developing high-tech agriculture and sustainable agriculture, both ensuring domestic food security and pursuing export orientation.

Ambassador Nguyen Manh Cuong thanked Muhammad Sher Mahbub Murad, Chairman of the Sylhet City Administration, for the warm welcome extended to the delegation. Witnessing the city’s dynamic pace of life, the Ambassador expressed confidence that Sylhet would soon become a major economic center of Bangladesh and successfully develop into a smart tourism city model in the future.

Emphasizing that Vietnam is a coastal country with many favorable conditions for developing agriculture and tourism, the Ambassador proposed that the two sides jointly study and consider the possibility of connecting, exchanging, and establishing cooperative relations between localities of the two countries, thereby strengthening connections, sharing development experience across many fields, and promoting economic – trade – investment cooperation and people-to-people exchange…

Also at the meeting, the group of Vietnamese enterprises introduced their companies and fields of operation in Bangladesh and were warmly welcomed by the Sylhet city administration, which committed to helping find and connect them with suitable Bangladeshi enterprises right after the meeting.

In Moulvibazar province, Ambassador Nguyen Manh Cuong and the delegation visited the tea and agricultural products factory of Paragon Group, one of the oldest food companies in Bangladesh.

A number of Vietnamese enterprises had the opportunity to exchange directly with the Group’s leadership and are actively studying the possibility of trade cooperation and exporting some of Vietnam’s strong frozen food and agricultural products to the Bangladeshi market.

The Vietnamese Embassy delegation visited an industrial zone in Habiganj province.

In Habiganj province, the Ambassador and the delegation visited and worked with the leadership of the multi-sector production industrial zone of PRAN-RFL Group.

This is one of the largest manufacturing and exporting enterprises in Bangladesh, known for its large workforce (employing more than 100,000 workers) and special support policies for workers and their families. During the working session, the group of Vietnamese enterprises had the opportunity to connect and exchange directly with the Group’s leadership.

The two sides actively exchanged views and strengthened mutual understanding of each other’s strengths, initially identifying cooperation opportunities in areas such as food import-export, product preservation and packaging techniques, and sharing experience and transferring production technology…
