The Vietnam-Bangladesh bilateral trade turnover was USD 82 million in 2009, USD 390 million in 2012, and reached USD 1.46 billion in 2022. Bangladesh is not only a large consumer market with a population of over 170 million people, but also a gateway for  goods to penetrate deeper into South Asian countries.
Under a parliamentary democratic political system (a form of capitalism), social organizations (in the economic sector) are regarded as representing the business community, playing a role and exerting a profound influence on social consciousness. Fully recognizing this, since 2020 Vietnamese enterprises investing and doing business with Bangladesh (96 enterprises) reached agreement with the Embassy, sought guidance from relevant ministries and agencies at home, and officially completed procedures with the Government of Bangladesh to establish “Vietnam Business Society in Bangladesh”, abbreviated as VBS, Vietnamese name “Hội doanh nghiệp Việt Nam tại Bangladesh”.
