Vietnam-Bangladesh Cross-Border E-Commerce Promotion Forum

On March 25, the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, coordinated with the Vietnamese Embassy in Bangladesh and the Vietnam Business Society in Bangladesh (VBS) to organize the “Vietnam-Bangladesh Cross-Border E-Commerce Promotion Forum”.
The event took place in the capital Dhaka with the participation of more than 100 delegates from Vietnam and Bangladesh. Attending and chairing the Forum were Vietnamese Ambassador to Bangladesh Nguyen Manh Cuong; leaders of the Foreign Market Department; representatives of the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency, Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam; leaders of VBS, along with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, the Deputy Minister of Commerce, and the Chairman of the Bangladesh E-commerce Association (“E-Cab”).
The Forum truly served as an important bridge connecting more than 12 Vietnamese enterprises operating in e-commerce, agricultural products and fertilizers, and steel structures with more than 90 Bangladeshi enterprises. Delegates held lively discussions on the significant trade cooperation potential between the two countries, especially in the field of cross-border e-commerce.
Both Vietnam and Bangladesh have import-export structures that can complement each other. Vietnam currently has an e-commerce sector growing at one of the fastest rates in Southeast Asia and the world, with a market size of up to USD 25 billion in 2024.
Bangladesh is a market with a large population (over 170 million people), a developed technology base, and a young workforce, promising to create many cooperation opportunities in the future.
Speaking at the Forum, Ambassador Nguyen Manh Cuong affirmed that the fine traditional friendship between the two countries over the past 50-plus years continues to develop and go increasingly deeper and more substantive; he emphasized the importance of promoting trade cooperation between the two countries, especially amid the strong development of technology and e-commerce.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong proposed that enterprises on both sides strengthen exchange and cooperation to seize new opportunities in the global market.

Discussing at the Forum, delegates from both sides agreed that Vietnam and Bangladesh still have significant untapped potential to complement each other – for example, Vietnam supplies rice, coffee, pepper, agricultural products (ginger, onions, garlic), and construction materials to Bangladesh; Bangladesh can supply pharmaceutical products, pharmaceutical raw materials, jute, and other goods to Vietnam.
In particular, e-commerce plays an important role in boosting trade between the two sides, driving economic development, and creating opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises.
A leader of Premier Bank also delivered a speech, committing to standing ready to guarantee payments for import-export contracts between the two sides, facilitating trade transactions.
On this occasion, Vietnamese enterprises also introduced their products and services and expressed a desire to develop business cooperation with the Bangladeshi market.
This was not only an occasion to promote products and services but also an opportunity for enterprises to directly meet partners and learn about market demand, thereby developing more effective business models and contributing to the sustainable development of both economies.

At the conclusion of the Forum, enterprises from both sides held a lively and effective business matching session. Many contracts and cooperation agreements in the field of agricultural product supply were signed.
The 2025 Vietnam-Bangladesh Cross-Border E-Commerce Promotion Forum was a resounding success, opening up many new cooperation opportunities for enterprises of both countries in the future.
