Legal status – Functions and duties:
- Legal status: VBS is the (sole) representative organization of Vietnamese enterprises investing and doing business in Bangladesh. It operates in accordance with the laws of Bangladesh, in line with the orientation of the Government of Vietnam, international practice, and the agreements signed between Bangladesh and Vietnam.
- Functions and duties: covering activities in the fields of economics, trade, and investment between Vietnam and Bangladesh
- Connecting enterprises, traders, and investors.
- Sharing and supporting enterprises with market information and legal policy.
- Consulting with the Government and relevant authorities on policy.
- Serving as the focal point for organizing economic events.
- Coordinating and supporting the resolution of issues related to payment, delivery, and commercial disputes.
- Protecting the legitimate rights and interests of member enterprises, traders, and investors.
- Developing and forecasting strategies for the growth of trade, investment, and industry sectors.
- Carrying out other trade-related activities to strengthen competitiveness and promote Vietnam-Bangladesh trade development.
Organizational structure and communication channels:
Members: As of September 2, 2022, the Society had a total of 96 member enterprises, comprising 28 official founding members (Vietnamese enterprises with a clear legal status and industry sector, maintaining a regular commercial presence in Bangladesh) and 68 honorary (registered) members that have done or are doing business in Bangladesh (with non-regular trading activity).
Executive Board: VBS is run by an “Executive Board,” organized by industry group, chaired by Mr. Do Van Trong (Chairman of Vieba Group, who has been engaged in the Bangladesh market for over 10 years, and is currently one of only three Vietnamese-origin enterprises directly investing in Bangladesh).
